Dianne Milsom, M.S., RSLP Certified in Speech Language Pathology

Dianne graduated from Portland State University in 1979 with a M.S. as a Speech Language Pathologist. Dianne is a registered member of the Canadian Speech Language and Hearing Association (CASLPA), the British Columbia Speech Language Association (BCASLPA), the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHHPBC) and on the Registered Autism Service Providers list for ACT-BC. Dianne worked in the Richmond School District as an SLP, ESL Teacher and Resource Teacher for 25 years. Dianne is one of the founding members of the Richmond Autism Interagency Committee (RAIC). Dianne is the Proprietor/Director of the Chatham Speech and Language Clinic since 2005 and has been in Private Practice since 1991.

Joanne graduated from SFU with a BA in Psychology and Linguistics in
2000. Then she went on to complete a M.Sc. in Speech Language
Pathology from UBC in 2002. During her post-graduate studies she
worked part time for the Delta Children’s Respite Care program and as
a Behavioural Interventionist. Joanne is currently a certified member of
the Canadian Association for Speech Language Pathologists and
Audiologists (CASLPA), BC Association for Speech Language
Pathologists and Audiologists (BCASLPA), the College of Speech and
Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHHPBC)and a member of ACT-
BC. Upon graduation she worked as a Speech Language Pathologist at
the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre for 2 years. She then
worked at the Burnaby Health Unit for just over a year at which time she
went on maternity leave to care for her first child. Joanne has been
working with Chatham Speech and Language Services since February
2007.

Carla is originally from Victoria, BC where she completed a B.Sc. in Linguistics at the University of
Victoria. She moved here to attend UBC’s speech language pathology program in 2005. She completed
her practicum here at Chatham Speech and Language Services as a student and began working here part-
time in August 2007. Carla is currently a certified member of the Canadian Association for Speech
Language Pathologists and Audiologists (CASLPA), BC Association for Speech Language Pathologists and
Audiologists (BCASLPA), the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHHPBC)
and a member of ACT-BC. Carla also works part-time at UBC hospital with adults with acquired speech,
language, and swallowing disorders. In her spare time, Carla loves to alpine ski, rock climb and play
ultimate frisbee.

Taslim began working with children with speech and language disorders while pursuing her B.A. in
Psychology and Linguistics at SFU in 1998. After graduating with her B.A. in 2001, she moved to Orillia,
Ontario to obtain a post-graduate diploma as a Communicative Disorders Assistant. While working as a
communicative disorders assistant at Chatham Speech and Language Services and the Centre for Ability,
Taslim decided to continue her education in the field and graduated from the State University of New
York, University at Buffalo in 2005 with her M.A. in Speech Language Pathology. Since then, she has
worked for the Delta School District and Chatham Speech and Language Services. She also supports
stroke survivors at weekly Richmond Stroke Club meetings. Taslim is currently a certified member of the
Canadian Association for Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (CASLPA), BC Association for
Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (BCASLPA), the American Speech Language and Hearing
Association (ASHA) and on the Registered Autism Service Providers list for ACT-BC. Her hobbies
include reading, writing poetry and spending time with her husband and young daughter.

Taslim Jaffer, M.A. CCC-SLP, RSLP Certified in Speech Language Pathology

Vera graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Science in Communication
Disorders in 1979. She worked at various facilities in Northern Ontario including a General Hospital,
School Board, Health Unit and Children's Rehabilitation Centre.
In 1985 Vera relocated to the West Coast and pursued her M.A. in Speech Language Pathology at Western
Washington University in Bellingham. She has worked part-time at Holy Family Hospital in Vancouver for
the last 21 years. Dianne is a registered member of the Canadian Speech Language and Hearing
Association (CASLPA), the British Columbia Speech Language Association (BCASLPA), the College of
Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHHPBC) and on the Registered Autism Service
Providers list for ACT-BC. In her spare time Vera likes to spend time with her two teenage kids and
husband. She also likes to spend time outdoors hiking, cycling and skiing. Vera has been working with
Chatham Speech and Language Services since January 2008.

Szilvia is a Speech Language Assistant who joined the Chatham Speech and Language Services team in
November 2007. She assists the Speech Language Pathologists mainly with teens and preteens. Szilvia
has a Bachelor's degree from UBC in Speech Sciences and Psychology. She also has an ESL teaching
certificate. Szilvia has worked and volunteered with people of various ages and challenges for over 10
years in the Greater Vancouver Area. She also has extensive work experience teaching ESL. Szilvia
loves to spend time with her young daughter and family, especially outdoors. Her hobbies include
knitting, reading, camping and gardening.

Stacie’s career path began in high school, when she volunteered to work with her fellow students with
special needs. After high school, in 1994, Stacie worked as a special education teacher assistant,
mentored by feeding specialist Marsha Dunn Klein, M.Ed., OTR/L, and others in the community of
therapists in Tucson, Arizona. While pursuing a B.S. in Speech and Hearing Sciences at Arizona State
University, Stacie worked with children with speech and language disorders as a Speech Therapy
Assistant in Phoenix, Arizona. In 2004, graduating with her bachelor’s degree Magna Cum Laude, Stacie
undertook master’s studies at Northern Arizona University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2007 with an
M.S. in Clinical Speech and Language Pathology, with an emphasis on language disorders associated with
Autism. After working in private therapy clinics and the school system, Stacie launched her own private
practice in Phoenix, providing home-based speech therapy and contract-based speech therapy for private
and charter schools. Stacie joined Chatham Speech and Language Services in July 2010. Stacie is a
member of the Canadian Association for Speech Language Pathologists (CASLPA), the College of Speech
and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHHPBC) and the American Speech Language and Hearing
Association (ASHA). Stacie, a native of Regina, Saskatchewan, is very excited to be back in Canada with
family and friends. Stacie and her husband enjoy exploring their new home town, walking their dogs, and
relaxing at the beach.
